Ronan submits Dublin aparthotel plans

Developer Johnny Ronan has submitted plans for the latest aparthotel project to be unveiled in Dublin.

The seven-storey complex at the Ronan Group's Spencer Place development, near Dublin's Docklands, will feature 325 residential apartments and a 102-key aparthotel.

The Spencer Place Development Company lodged revised plans for the development - which already has permission for 165 apartments. There are also proposals to build new streets and pedestrian walkways through the site, while all apartments would have balconies or terraces.

The plan, if it goes ahead, would be one of the biggest single-apartment developments in the city centre, and as it exists in a strategic development zone, a decision may be fast-tracked.

Ronan acquired the site from receivers appointed by nama for a reported €43 million in 2016.

Recharge for us was that gathering of highly skilled professional individuals...and a true opportunity to spend 24-48 hours with these guys, build relationships, build a true understanding of how the different sectors within this hospitality world operate. From my perspective...in terms of the coliving, student accommodation and apartment-orientated industries, it was a really good opportunity to learn how those verticals operate, and how perhaps what we do as an organisation can be referenced within that particular vertical.”
